WIN Energy REMC will sponsor local students at the annual Touchstone Energy Camp. The camp will be held June 7-10, 2017, at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Ind.

Students entering seventh grade in 2017 are eligible to attend and are selected to participate in the three-day program. The students’ agenda combines traditional outdoor camp activities with environmental education, electrical safety practices, and cooperative business education.

This is a great way for students to learn about the role of the electric cooperative in their community while experiencing all the fun of camp.

The Touchstone Energy Camp program was developed by a committee of electric cooperative employees from Indiana. The camp is funded in part by Indiana’s electric cooperatives, Hoosier Energy, Wabash Valley Power, Indiana Electric Cooperatives and other industry partners. WIN Energy is proud to support the youth in our communities by participating in Touchstone Energy Camp.

2018 Touchstone Energy Camp applications will be available at the end of 2017. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and your Electric Consumer for more information.

WIN Energy sends local 6th graders to Touchstone Energy® Camp

Two WIN Energy Campers holding a WIN Energy Sign while at camp.In June, we sponsored two local students to attend Touchstone Energy Camp, Morgan Beard from South Knox Elementary and Samuel Belt from North Elementary in Poseyville. They spent three nights at Camp Techumeh in Brookston, Indiana learning about electric cooperatives, electric safety, and energy efficiency, all while participating in many fun camp activities. The camp also focuses on team building and helping them to develop as future leaders.

This year, campers enjoyed three fun-filled days of traditional sleep-away summer camp activities like zip lining, horseback riding, rock climbing, archery, swimming, and campfires. But at Touchstone Energy Camp, campers also learned about important topics such as alternative energy, electric safety, and the impact their cooperative makes in the community. Chaperones were Indiana electric cooperative employees who graciously volunteered to share their knowledge of the energy industry, as well as their time to lead students through this exciting camp experience.

WIN Energy is a proud sponsor of Touchstone Energy Camp and looks forward to providing more opportunities in the future for local sixth graders to attend the camp.
