2020 Annual Meeting

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Dear WIN Energy REMC Member:

Due to circumstances out of our control as a result of COVID-19, the WIN Energy REMC Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 annual meeting until 2021. As your board, it is our responsibility to make decisions in the best interest of the cooperative. During this time of uncertainty, our number one priority is to protect the safety and well-being of our member-consumers and employees. Unfortunately, there are too many risks in gathering as a large group for the annual meeting at this time. In 2021, we plan to schedule our annual meeting on March 27. At that meeting, we will conduct business for both years and provide annual reports, financial reports, and reports from officers and management for fiscal years 2019 and 2020.

One order of business that is conducted at the annual meeting is the election of directors. Board members in districts two (2) and five (5), filed for re-election in 2020. Being as no other petitions were filed, Barry Bane (district 2) and Randy Kuppler (district 5) will continue to serve as directors of the WIN Energy REMC board for a three-year term.

It has been my practice to give a report on the state of the cooperative at each annual meeting. The message I had intended to give this year was on Cooperative Strength. There are several reasons your cooperative is strong. Although we may seem small, WIN Energy REMC is part of a strong network of nearly 900 electric cooperatives in the United States that work together in order to best serve cooperative member-consumers. Your cooperative is also strong because of the dedicated employees that work hard to serve you every day, and because of the support of our member-consumers who actively participate in the business of the cooperative. In addition, I am pleased to report that through these unprecedented times the financial condition of your cooperative continues to remain strong. Together, with the network of other cooperatives, our employees, and member-consumers like you, there is cooperative strength.

This message of cooperative strength seems even more fitting now, as the strength of WIN Energy REMC has been demonstrated throughout this pandemic. As an essential business, your cooperative team has continued to provide a high level of service in order to power your life as we all sheltered at home. Management implemented new processes and procedures during this time that allowed employees to work from home and follow social distancing guidelines in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. Although our offices were closed, our member services representatives answered your phone calls and processed your payments, while our linemen learned how to work with social distancing guidelines to keep your lights on. All of our employees have adjusted to a new normal in order to best serve you.

As we continue to face challenges, know that the WIN Energy REMC team is here for you. We may have a new normal, but our commitment to you has not changed. On behalf of the board of directors, I want to thank you for your continue support and your understanding of our decision to postpone the 2020 annual meeting. We look forward to meeting with you in 2021.

Sincerely,

Daniel L. Schuckman
