Long-serving Hoosier Energy Directors and Board Officers Dan Schuckman and Eugene Roberts’ legacies will not be forgotten anytime soon. In honor of both men’s service, the Hoosier Energy board of directors, in partnership with the North American Lineman Training Center have announced the Daniel L. Schuckman Memorial Scholarship and W. Eugene Roberts Memorial Scholarship.
Dan Schuckman, the former WIN Energy REMC director to Hoosier Energy, and Eugene Roberts, the former Orange County REMC director to Hoosier Energy, have a combined 35 years of dedicated service to Hoosier Energy and their hometown cooperatives.
North American Lineman Training Center will choose scholarship recipients on an annual basis upon criteria provided by Hoosier Energy. The scholarship, totaling $5,000 per student, will cover the cost of housing, tools, equipment and first aid/CPR certification for two enrolled students.
The annual scholarships will be rotated among eligible students throughout the service territories of Hoosier Energy’s 18-member distribution cooperatives in southcentral Indiana and southeastern Illinois. Preference will be given to qualifying students in need of financial assistance.
While these scholarships will assist the next generation of transmission and distribution of lineworkers, they will also continually renew Dan and Eugene’s lasting impact on our members and the communities Hoosier Energy serves.
